Michael Myers — The Shape
![]() |
Something, or rather someone, is here now. I've never seen this... Shape before. A man hiding behind a mask. He comes with a determination. But more worrying, he comes with an apparent grasp of the hunt. He does not strike me as someone who even went unwillingly to this place. Is there more to this being than I can fathom? | ![]() |

I met him, fifteen years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding; and even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes... the devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realised that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil. | ![]() |

Michael Myers or "The Shape" is one of 39 Killers currently featured in Dead by Daylight
.
He was introduced as the Killer of CHAPTER 2: The HALLOWEEN® Chapter, a Chapter DLC released on 25 October 2016.
He originates from the 1978 Horror Movie franchise with the same name, Halloween.
Overview
The Shape is a haunting Killer, intent on monitoring Survivors from a distance to feed his Power. The more he stalks, the stronger and faster he becomes.
His personal Perks, Save the Best for Last, Play with Your Food
, and Dying Light
, select one Survivor to become his Obsession and will trigger deadly effects based on their status.
Difficulty Rating: Moderate
(These Killers require the Player to be comfortable with the basics of the role, though they share common mechanics with easier ones)
Lore
Some humans are simply bad seeds. Seeds infused with a distilled and pure form of evil.
Michael Myers is one of those seeds. He had no issues with causing the pain of others. Instead, it was exactly what he sought. But even life can be tough on those with minds filled with terror. The difference is just how one goes about to solve those problems. For Michael, he had to kill to find some inner peace. As he took his sister’s life, the police found a silent boy dressed as a clown at the scene.
When one stumbles upon a growing fire, one does not pour gasoline on it. But this was an action taken by officials that had no idea how it would shape this demon in the boy's body. Sending Michael to a mental institution was a feeble attempt to save the child. Unsuccessful therapy and nightly screams just made him even more introverted and deranged.
People hoped that Michael Myers would end up a parenthesis, soon to be forgotten and buried, a failure that soon were to rot away. But then...he escaped.

Weapon: Kitchen Knife
The Kitchen Knife is the Primary Weapon of The Shape.
An oversized blade with devastatingly sharp edges.
Power: Evil Within
"The darkness inside feeds his determination to take the life of his prey."
SPECIAL ABILITY: EVIL WITHIN
Evil Within is a tiered Power and requires Evil drained from Survivors in order to tier it up.
Evil Within I has the following permanent effects until a tier-up:
- Grants the Undetectable Status Effect.
- Reduces the Movement speed to 4.4 m/s.
- Reduces the range of the Lunge Attack.
- This is achieved by reducing its open time to 0.2 seconds.
- Provides the default Vaulting time of 1.7 seconds.
Evil Within II has the following permanent effects until a tier-up:
- Reduces the Terror Radius
to 16 metres.
- Provides the default Movement speed of 4.6 m/s.
- Provides the default range of the Lunge Attack.
- This is achieved by setting its open time to 0.5 seconds.
- Reduces the Vaulting time to 1.48 seconds.
Evil Within III has the following effects for 60 seconds, after which it automatically regresses back to Evil Within II:
- Causes all Survivors to suffer from the Exposed Status Effect.
- Provides the default Terror Radius of 32 metres.
- Increases the range of the Lunge Attack.
- This is achieved by increasing its open time to 0.6 seconds.
- Reduces the Vaulting time to 1.275 seconds.
SPECIAL ABILITY: STALKING
Press and hold the Power button to start Stalking:
- Reduces the Walking speed to 20 % of the default speed during Active Stalking.
- Reduces the Walking speed to 60 % of the default speed during Passive Stalking.
- Highlights the outline of Survivors within a range of 2.5 to 39.85 metres of The Shape.
- The colour of their highlight indicates the amount of evil left to drain from them, ranging from white (full) to red (drained).
Stalking drains Evil from whichever highlighted Survivor is in closest proximity to The Shape and fills the Power Gauge.
The closer a Survivor is to The Shape the slower the Evil is drained from them, down to a lower limit of 60 % of the default rate.
Power Trivia
Movement Speeds:
- Walking while Active Stalking: 0.92 m/s
- This is achieved by applying a multiplier of x0.2 to his Walking speed.
- Walking while Passive Stalking: 2.76 m/s
- This is achieved by applying a multiplier of x0.6 to his Walking speed.
- Walking while in Evil Within I: 4.4 m/s
- This is achieved by applying a multiplier of x0.956522 to his Walking speed.
- Walking while in Evil Within II or III: 4.6 m/s
Stalk Points (SP):
- Tier-up threshold for EW2: 3 SP
- Tier-up threshold for EW3: 5 SP
- Stalk Points pool: 80 SP (technically 80.4 SP)
- This pool is divided equally across all Survivors who load into the Trial.
In a regular ranked Trial, this amounts to each Survivor having 20 SP (technically 20.1 SP) that can be drained by The Shape.
- This pool is divided equally across all Survivors who load into the Trial.
Power-Depletion Mechanic:
- This mechanic automatically drains the Power Gauge whenever Tier III ends, resetting it to Tier II.
- Penalty: -5 SP
- As this penalty never changes, Add-ons that modify the threshold to reach Tier III have the side effect of the Power Gauge only being partially drained.
Stalking:
- Stalk range: 2.5 to 39.85 metres
- Survivors outside this range will still be highlighted, but no Evil will be drained from them.
- Stalk rate: x0.6 to x1
- The rate changes proportionally depending on the current range to the stalked Survivor.
Outline Colours:
- The amount of Stalk Points a Survivor has left is indicated to The Shape by the colour of their outline when stalking them.
- The colour ranges from white (20 SP) to red (0 SP).

DLC
The Shape is part of 2 DLC:
Change Log
Hotfix 1.2.1e
- Nerf: removed the ability to stalk multiple Survivors simultaneously.
- Now, only the closest highlighted Survivor will be drained of Evil and fill the Power Gauge.
Patch 2.1.0
- Buff: increased the Walking speed in Evil Within I from 4.14 m/s to 4.2 m/s.
- Quality of Life: standardised the Carrying speed to be equal across all Killers (used to be dependent on the default Walking speeds).
Patch 2.3.0
- Quality of Life: reduced the SFX of his footsteps to make him stealthier and facilitate sneaking up on Survivors.
Patch 3.3.1
- Change: updated The Shape with a Undetectable Status Effect while in Evil Within I, usurping the Tier's old effects and expanding on them.
- This, however, also had the negative effect that The Shape is no longer immune to non-Aura-based Detection Perks that provide Survivors with other cues.
Patch 4.1.2
- Nerf: removed the ability to stalk Survivors while in Evil Within III.
Patch 5.7.0
- Change: tweaked some values related to the Stalking ability due to a technical rework of the mechanic.
Patch 6.6.0
- Quality of Life: performing his Mini-Mori with the Tombstone Add-ons now also removes the HUD elements.
Patch 7.3.3
- Undocumented Change: changed the Killer's POV during a Memento Mori from first person to third person, making it identical to that of the Survivor.
Patch 8.4.0
- Buff: increased the default Walking speed while in Evil Within I from 4.2 m/s to 4.4 m/s.
- Buff: effectively doubled the available pool of Evil from 40 points to 80 points.
- The pool is still distributed evenly across all Survivors present at the start of the Trial.
- Buff: reduced the amount of Evil needed to reach Evil Within II from 5 points to 3 points.
- Rework: reworked the distance-based multiplier of the Stalking ability.
- increased the multiplier for Stalking from afar from x0.1 to x1.
- reduced the multiplier for Stalking from close-by from x1 to x0.4.
- These last two changes effectively reverse the Stalking behaviour, now favouring The Shape Stalking Survivors from afar over from close-by.
- Undocumented Change: changed the Terror Radius in Evil Within I from 6 metres to 32 metres.
- Since the Undetectable Status Effect overrides this at all times, this change is inconsequential.
Patch 8.4.1
- Buff: increased the multiplier for Stalking from close-by from x0.4 to x0.6.

Portrait
- Like all Killers, The Shape received a new Character Portrait with Patch 7.1.0.
However, the current version, released with Patch 7.2.0, was the second iteration of that Portrait due to some grievances the Community had had with the previous iteration:- The first iteration featured The Shape holding up his knife and staring at it, which many Community members deemed "too comical".
- The second iteration is now more reminiscent of his slasher-pose featured in the original promotional art for the release of CHAPTER 2: The HALLOWEEN® Chapter in 2016.
