My curiosity halted my escape after a few feet and I hid in a cabinet. The Pig moved like a predator – and I saw: a human body wearing a pig's head as ornament. It walked by the cabinet and its snout was just a few inches away from me. I held my breath, aching for freedom. A sudden sound caught the pig's attention and it walked away. She originates from the 2004 Horror Movie franchise of the same name, SAW.

The Pig is a tormenting Killer, able to crouch into stealth mode, then ambush Survivors from a short distance. She can also apply Reverse Bear Traps to downed Survivors, forcing them to remove it before the timer runs out, triggering an instant death.

Lore

When John Kramer, better known as Jigsaw, planned for his son to be born during the Chinese Zodiac's Year of the Pig, he wanted it to represent fertility and rebirth; a new beginning for him and his wife, and the start of a charmed life for his son. But that plan was shattered on the night that a junkie broke into his wife's clinic, hoping to score.
After this event resulted in the death of his unborn son, John finally caught up with the junkie, making him his first test subject, and The Pig was changed forever too. It became a representation of the disease that was rotting John from the inside, a reminder that we are just meat unless we elevate ourselves by our actions, by grasping life from the jaws of death. The Pig became a vessel, an agent of Jigsaw, conveying the subjects to their test. For some of those who emerged victorious, The Pig could still be a rebirth, into their new lives as apprentices, even disciples, of Jigsaw.
That was the case for Amanda Young, a troubled soul, whose life had been a catalogue of harm, both to herself and those around her. That changed when she faced, and bested, Jigsaw's test. Deciding her life was worth something, she became devoted to Jigsaw's cause, ready to take over when cancer consumed him.
But she became more dependent on John, her anguish at his impending death combining with a belief that their test subjects weren't capable of saving themselves, of being reborn in the crucible of the games.
Seeing this, John presented her with another game, another chance to save herself, but Amanda let her rage and jealousy rule her actions. She failed the test and took a bullet as a consequence.
Bleeding out on the tiled floor, darkness engulfed Amanda's vision, accompanied by a sound like creaking wood. Then she was in a forest, once more viewing the world through the eyes of a Pig. Trees surrounded her, their branches clawing at her from all sides. Waves of panic washed over her and she could hear her breath reverberating inside the mask.
Had she been damned, cursed to spend her days here, in this guise? Or maybe this was another test? Maybe she hadn't failed at all? John always thought one step ahead of everyone else, planned for every eventuality, and he would never give up on her, surely?
Jigsaw may have gone but he had passed her onto another. A being for whom she would be The Pig again.
Ultimately, she saw now that she had been right in the choices she had made. The time for games was over. There was no chance of redemption for any of them. They were meat, and meat was destined for slaughter.

Prestige
Prestiging The Pig will automatically add Tier I of her Unique Perks to the inventories of all other Killers and unlock the ability for their higher-tiered versions to spawn in their Bloodweb

The Hidden Blade is the Primary Weapon of The Pig.

SPECIAL ABILITY: JIGSAW'S BAPTISM
The Pig starts the Trial with 4 Reverse Bear Traps equipped, which cannot be replenished once used.
Additionally, 5 Jigsaw Boxes spawn in random locations in the environment.
SPECIAL LOCOMOTION: CROUCHING
Press the Secondary Power button to transition into the Crouched State:
- Grants the Undetectable
Status Effect. - Reduces her Movement speed to 3.8 m/s.
Press the Secondary Power button again to transition out of the Crouched State.
SPECIAL ABILITY: AMBUSH DASH
Press and hold the Attack button while in the Crouched State to charge and perform an Ambush Dash Attack.:
- Increases her Movement speed to 6.9 m/s for 2.3 seconds while attacking.
- Causes The Pig to automatically exit the Crouched State.
SPECIAL TRAP: REVERSE BEAR TRAPS
Press the Power button while standing above a downed Survivor to attach an unarmed Inactive Reverse Bear Trap to their head.
Whenever a Generator
is completed, all currently Inactive Reverse Bear Traps are activated.
Active Reverse Bear Traps are armed and on a Death Timer of 150 seconds, which is displayed on the Survivor's Status icon.
Once the Death Timer elapses, the trap snaps open and kills the Trapped Survivor.
The Death Timer is paused whenever that Survivor is downed, hooked, or actively being chased by The Pig.
Trapped Survivors may only leave the Trial normally if their trap is inactive.
Attempting to leave through the Exit Gates
with an active trap will trigger the kill mechanism and execute the Survivor halfway into the exit area.
They may still leave through the Hatch
.
SPECIAL INTERACTION: JIGSAW BOXES
Survivors can remove a Reverse Bear Trap by interacting with a Jigsaw Box
and finding a key.
The Auras
of all unsearched Jigsaw Boxes are revealed to Trapped Survivors at all times.
Trapped Survivors must randomly search between 1 to 4 Jigsaw Boxes:
- Succeeding the search will remove and discard the Reverse Bear Trap.
- Failing the search will cause the Jigsaw Puppet Billy to cackle at the unfortunate Survivor and hide the Aura of the Jigsaw Box.
Jigsaw Boxes have a shared pool of 16 searches per Trial.

- Buff: reduced the audio levels of her footsteps to increase her stealth.
Patch 2.5.0
- Buff: reduced the Transition time for Crouching from 2 seconds to 1.3 seconds.
- Buff: reduced the fade-in/out time of her Terror Radius when transitioning between states from 6.6 seconds to 4 seconds.
- Nerf: increased her Terror Radius from 28 metres to 32 metres.
- This change intended to standardise the Terror Radii amongst Killers moving at 4.6 m/s at the time.
Patch 2.7.0
- Nerf: triggering the Endgame Collapse no longer activates any remaining Inactive Reverse Bear Traps.
- Nerf: attempting to escape the Trial through the Exit Gates no longer triggers Inactive Reverse Bear Traps to insta-kill their wearer.

- Nerf: The Pig's Ambush Attack is no longer considered a Basic Attack.
- QoL: adjusted The Pig's speed curves for crouching and uncrouching to be smoother.
Patch 3.2.1
- Nerf: adjusted The Pig's Carrying speed to match that of other Killers, reducing it from 3.85 m/s or 96.25 % to 3.68 m/s or 92 %.
- This was due to an oversight. The Pig's code is mostly copy-pasted from The Huntress, who, as a 4.4 m/s Killer, uses a higher Carrying speed modifier (x0.8365), which was not adjusted to the fact that The Pig is a 4.6 m/s Killer.
Patch 3.3.1
- Buff: updated The Pig's Power with the Undetectable Status Effect.
Patch 5.3.0
- Change: received an Add-on Pass, reworking several Add-ons.
Patch 6.0.0
- Change: added an extra Jigsaw Box in Trials with The Pig.
Additionally, the fourth searched Jigsaw Box is guaranteed to remove the Trap.- This change was motivated by many Pig players body-blocking the last Jigsaw Box, preventing Survivors from searching it, thus guaranteeing death.
- Change: reworked the key finding logic. There are now 12 guaranteed box searches split between 4 Reverse Bear Traps instead of a random 4-16.
- Instead of needing to find the correct Jigsaw Box for each Reverse Bear Trap, each Trap now has a predetermined number of searches required before it is removed.

Patch 6.6.2
- Buff (undocumented): The Pig will now remain crouched when snuffing Totems
, allowing her to remain Undetectable.
Patch 7.6.0
- Buff: increased the duration of the Ambush Dash from 2 seconds to 2.3 seconds.
- Buff: increased the Movement speed while Crouched from 3.6 m/s to 3.8 m/s.
- Buff: reduced the Transition time to enter the Crouched State from 1.3 seconds to 1 second.
- QoL: standardised the Cool-down durations of the Ambush Dash attack to be in line with other Special Attacks:
- reduced the Cool-down for successful hits from 3 seconds to 2.7 seconds.

- The Pig was the first Killer with two different Weapon cool-downs.
- The Pig was the first Killer with a Power that allows her to kill Survivors without Sacrificing or performing a Memento Mori

- She also has the shortest regular Memento Mori at just 8 seconds.
- The Pig was the first Killer to have a secondary interaction with downed Survivors other than the Memento Mori.
- The Pig was the second Killer, and currently remains the only one, to have a secondary Attack mode with her Ambush Dash.
- The Pig was the fourth female Killer and the first female licensed Killer.
- The Pig was the fifth Killer to wear a Mask.
- The Pig was the seventh licensed Character and the fourth licensed Killer to be added to Dead by Daylight.
- The Pig is the only licensed Killer to have never used the weapon they use in Dead by Daylight within their home series, despite said weapon being used within the series.
- Jigsaw used the weapon in its only appearance to date to slash the throat of David Tapp, the scar of which can be seen faintly on his neck in-game.
- Due to residual code from The Huntress that was used as a basis for The Pig, her Carrying Speed multiplier was never adjusted to her being a standard Killer in terms of Movement speed, allowing her to carry slightly faster than any other Killer.
- With Patch 3.2.1, this was ultimately adjusted.
- The Pig was the first Killer to have an animal as her official theme.
Character Meme
- There is a common joke amongst the Community to consider any and all minor in-game balance a nerf to The Pig.
- This joke originated after a series of minor actual nerfs were applied to The Pig.
- The joke is occasionally acknowledged by the Developers in their Dev Logs.
- Another joke regarding The Pig is when survivors Boop The Snoot or when survivors use the Point emote on The Pig's nose.
- This is often done when survivors are asking for mercy/ forgiveness or just out of fun.
- This joke was also acknowledged by the Developers through the release of the cosmetic Boop the Snoot Mask for Meg Thomas.
- You could redeem the cosmetic with the code: BOOP through certain SAW related events.
