The Overlaps

The Overlaps are places where the Realm of The Entity seeps into the real world.

Overview

The Overlaps play a major role in Haddie Kaur's podcast series "Harbinger of Hell" and its various iterations throughout the omniverse, as her mysterious benefactor sends her to investigate the locations of these Overlaps, allowing Haddie to centre the episodes on them.

The Overlaps are marked by the Black Fog billowing out from and around the location, marking a physical barrier for those already within The Entity's Realm that they cannot cross.

The podcasts themselves feature hidden messages placed by "The Mystics" as to the location of these Overlaps, which can be deciphered by other people.
An example of this can be found in Sean Dint's Survivor statement in Tome 6 - Divergence.

Dint and his friends went to investigate the location of one of those Overlaps, specifically the ruins of the Crotus Prenn Asylum.
There they were attacked by The Oni and slaughtered, except for Dint, who managed to crawl out from the Black Fog, which The Oni could not cross.

The Overlaps appear to be ever-increasing in number and size as The Entity extends its influence over the world.

Trivia

• Haddie Kaur, as well as other people mentioned in various entries in The Archives, has the ability to sense the locations of these overlaps and experience memories associated with it, which have a notable orange tinge, reminiscent of all things associated with the Blights, which are tied to The Entity's power.
