The Demogorgon is one of 42 Killers![]()
![]()
featured in Dead by Daylight![]()
![]()
.
It was introduced as the Killer of CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things, a Chapter DLC released on 17 September 2019.
It originates from the 2016 Sci-Fi-Horror Web Television series Stranger Things.
The Chapter was temporarily retracted from Dead by Daylight between 17 November 2021 and 6 November 2023, but it remained a playable Character for anyone who already owned it.
Overview
The Demogorgon is an unidentified Killer, able to open multiple Portals and traverse between them to cover large distances. Using its Power, Of the Abyss, it can detect any Survivors within a close proximity to the Portals then unleash a leaping attack to inflict damage from a distance.
Its personal Perks, Surge![]()

During the Chapter's temporary departure from Dead by Daylight, these Perks were replaced with a generic variant each: Jolt![]()

Lore
A blooming mouth full of needle-like teeth for a face, large, curved, razor-sharp claws, and powerful legs to pounce on victims, make The Demogorgon a frightening monster to face in any dimension. It is a nightmare of unrestrained, feral rage as it hunts down its prey and rips it to pieces, devouring every last morsel of flesh and gore, leaving nothing for scavengers. The creature is untouched by any sense of compassion or restraint. Looming over its victim, it shows no doubt or mercy, just the pure instinct of its insatiable blood lust as it delivers the deathblow. A perfect hunter, The Demogorgon is a macabre testament to the horrors lurking in the Upside Down and why it was choice pickings for The Entity.

Name
- The name of The Demogorgon originates from the board game Dungeons & Dragons, which the main characters used as a source of inspiration to name and explain the strange happenings in Hawkins.
Development
- The Demogorgon featured in Dead by Daylight was modelled after the Demogorgon seen in a post-credit scene of the last episode of Stranger Things' Season 3, with Netflix providing the Developers with their model.
- The name Of the Abyss is a reference to Dungeons and Dragons - 5th Edition, since the Dungeons and Dragons character Demogorgon appears as an enemy in an adventure titled "Out of the Abyss".
- This connection is further cemented by the fact Dungeons & Dragons joined Dead By Daylight long after Stranger Things joined.
Terror Radius
- The Demogorgon was the first Killer to have had its Terror Radius changed twice.
(PTB Version 1)
(PTB Version 2)- Both versions were only used in the Public Test Build of Patch 3.2.0, with the first version having only been on the PTB for a single day, before it was replaced with the second version in 3.2.0a (PTB).
- The Demogorgon was also the first Killer to have had an entire layer of its Terror Radius changed completely at a later date.
