Raccoon City Police Station West Wing
Raccoon City Police Station West Wing or "OrionLevel01" is one of 3 Maps in the Raccoon City Realm.
It is one of two reworked versions of the much larger Raccoon City Police Station Map and was introduced with Patch 6.2.0, alongside its counterpart, Raccoon City Police Station East Wing.
Lore
The smell of blood and festering limbs permeated the concrete walls of the Raccoon City police station. Once an art museum, the building was converted into a precinct at the heart of the city. But when evil took residence, the station showed one last terrifying exhibition: corpses crowding narrow corridors, blood smeared on shattered windows, and festering flesh dripping down the stairs.
Landmark
Main Hall
The Main Hall is the main Landmark in all iterations of the Raccoon City Police Station Map.
It contains a Generator either down near the front desk or half-way up at the foot of the statue.

Layout Changes
- These are the changes the Developers made to the West Wing Map compared to the original Raccoon City Police Station Map in Patch 6.2.0
Lower Floor
Closed Areas
- Blocked off access to the upper Eastern half of the East Wing, including the Interrogation Room, the Observation Room, the Press Room, the Toilets, and the Break Room, as well as the surrounding/connecting corridors.
- Removed access to the outdoor area outside the Boiler Room and the roof access.
- Closed the shutter door in the Watchman's Room, preventing access to the corridor leading to the Break Room.
Opened Areas
- Granted access to the Eastern outdoor area located outside the main doors, which connects to the Fire Escape.
- Expanded the size of the outdoor area beyond the Safety Deposit Room and the Dark Room.
Doorways and Doors
- Added a doorway connecting the corridor beyond the Reception area to the West Office area by breaking through the wall.
- Added a doorway to the Safety Deposit Room by breaking through the wall, leading to the bottom of the staircase outside the Dark Room.
- Added a doorway to the East Office by breaking through the wall outside the main door of the Press Room.
- Added a doorway to the Watchman's Room by breaking through the wall, leading to the corridor outside the East Office.
- Added two doorways to the Operations Room by breaking through the wall, one leading to the corridor surrounding the Safety Deposit Room and one leading to the Western-most corridor.
- Added a doorway leading to the outdoor area beyond the Safety Deposit Room and the Dark Room by breaking through the wall next to the bottom of the staircase.
Walls
- Removed the wall halfway down the Western-most corridor, outside the staircase, opening up the area.
Upper Floor
Closed Areas
- Blocked off access to the Roof and parts of the surrounding corridors.
- Blocked off access to the staircase outside the Chief's Office that would lead to the Press Room.
- Blocked off access to the Library catwalk.
Opened Areas
- Opened access to the roof area at the top of the Fire Escape.
Doorways and Doors
- Added a doorway to the corridor surrounding the roof area by breaking through the wall, adding a direct shortcut from the Roof to the Fire Escape staircase.
However, the doorway to the Roof next to the crashed Helicopter is blocked off on the West Wing Map, preventing access to the Roof. - Added a doorway to the Art Room by breaking through the wall, leading to the corridor outside the Fire Escape.
- Added a doorway connecting the Waiting Room to the Private Collection Room by breaking through the wall.
- Added a doorway connecting the corridor at the upper landing of the staircase leading to the Dark Room to the Library by breaking through the wall.
- Added a doorway connecting the S.T.A.R.S. Office to the Linen Room by breaking through the wall.
Drop
- Added a hole in the floor of the Library, leading into the development room of the Dark Room.
Walls
- Removed the wall between the S.T.A.R.S. Office and the Armoury, opening up the area.
History
Raccoon City Police Station
The original version of Raccoon City Police Station West Wing, that was introduced alongside CHAPTER 20: Resident Evil™ in Patch 5.0.0, contained the majority of the Raccoon City Police Station Map from the Resident Evil 2 Remake and was named the same.
Due to frequent complaints about the Map being too large for Dead by Daylight and thus difficult to navigate between the two wings, the Developers decided to split the Map up into multiple iterations.
Layout Changes Compared to Resident Evil
Please refer to the same section on Raccoon City Police Station, the original Map, for a full list of the layout changes Dead by Daylight made to the Map from Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Change Log
Patch 6.2.0
- Addition: added West Wing as a unique Map variant alongside East Wing.
- Both Map variants replaced the original Raccoon City Police Station Map, which was deemed too large for 1v4 Trials and is now exclusively used for 2v8 Trials as of Patch 8.5.1.
Patch 7.2.0
- Survivor Quality of Life: widened the doorway leading from the Entrance courtyard to the outdoor area leading to the Fire Escape from a single to a double door.
- Since there is always a Hook right behind that doorway, this change was most likely motivated by Killers who either body-blocked and/or trapped that doorway, and thus completely blocked off access to a hooked Survivor from that side.
Trivia
- Dead by Daylight's version of the Raccoon City Police Station is incredibly faithful to the one in the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Though as can be seen in the section above, some lay-out changes had to be made to adapt it to Dead by Daylight's playstyle.
- Entering rooms which in Resident Evil 2 Remake were considered Safe Rooms (rooms that could not be entered by enemies and contained a typewriter and an inventory chest), will play the Safety-Room-Melody instead of the usual sound ambiance.
