Raccoon City Police Station or "EclipseLevel01" is one of 3 Maps in the Raccoon City RealmIconHelp procedural.pngIconHelp procedural.pngIconHelp procedural.png.

This version of the Map, which provides simultaneous access to both the East Wing and West Wing, was originally added to Dead by Daylight in Patch 5.0.0, alongside the release of CHAPTER 20: Resident Evil™, but was later retired in Patch 6.2.0 and replaced by two smaller versions that were restricted to just one wing each.

The original version returned for the third iteration of 2v8 in Patch 8.5.1, which was themed after Resident Evil.
It remains exclusive to that Game Mode now.

Overview and History

Raccoon City Police Station is the original version of the RPD Map that released with Patch 5.0.0 alongside CHAPTER 20: Resident Evil™.

Retirement & Replacement

There were frequent complaints about the gameplay of the Map. Its large size and long, rectangular shape made it difficult for low-mobility Killers to traverse it from West-to-East and vice-versa and the generally complex layout made it difficult to navigate. Similar issues plagued Survivor Players when searching for Generators or trying to reach other Survivors hooked far away from them.

After a year, the Map was ultimately retired with the release of Patch 6.2.0 and replaced by two smaller versions of it that centred on either the East Wing or the West Wing, blocking off the other part, respectively.

Those two Maps remain the only accessible version in regular ranked Trials and the Custom Games mode.

2v8 Revival

With the third iteration of Game Mode: 2v8 - Resident Evil (V3) being centred on Dead by Daylight's sizeable Resident Evil cast, the original version of Raccoon City Police Station made its return and is once again available to play on, albeit exclusively in 2v8 Trials.

Lore

The smell of blood and festering limbs permeated the concrete walls of the Raccoon City police station. Once an art museum, the building was converted into a precinct at the heart of the city. But when evil took residence, the station showed one last terrifying exhibition: corpses crowding narrow corridors, blood smeared on shattered windows, and festering flesh dripping down the stairs.

Landmark

Main Hall

The Main Hall is the main Landmark in all iterations of the Raccoon City Police Station Map.

It contains a Generator either down near the front desk or half-way up at the foot of the statue.

  • Blocked off access to the uppermost floor at said staircase.
  • Blocked off access to the Clock Tower from the Library walkway.

Change Log

Patch 6.1.3

  • Change: added the suffix East Wing to the Map name, leaking the upcoming Rework that would split it into two smaller Maps.

Patch 6.2.0

  • Retirement: retired Raccoon City Police Station and replaced it with two unique Map variants: East Wing and West Wing, encompassing a bit more than half of the original Map, but restricted to either side of the Main Hall.

Patch 8.5.1

  • Partial Reinstation: reinstated Raccoon City Police Station for exclusive use in 2v8 Trials, for which its original size fits perfectly.

Trivia

  • Dead by Daylight's version of the Racoon City Police Station is incredibly faithful to the one in the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Though as can be seen in the section above, some lay-out changes had to be made to adapt it to Dead by Daylight's playstyle.
  • Entering rooms which in Resident Evil 2 Remake were considered Safe Rooms (rooms that could not be entered by enemies and contained a typewriter and an inventory chest), will play the Safety-Room-Melody instead of the usual sound ambiance.
  • Raccoon City Police Station was the first multi-floor Map with the ability to spawn the HatchIconHelp hatch.pngIconHelp hatch.pngIconHelp hatch.png on the Upper Floor.

Achievement

  • This version of the Map, despite its return with Game Mode: 2v8 - Resident Evil (V3), unfortunately no longer progresses the Outbreak Breakout Achievement, only the two smaller Maps do.
    • This Achievement requires Survivors to escape a Trial on the RPD Map after fully opening at least one Exit Gate.
