Modifier: Lights Out (V1) was the first iteration of the recurring limited-time Modifier: Lights Out.

It was available between 7 and 14 February 2024 and accompanied by a Modifier Tome: Modifier Tome 1 - Lights Out.

Modifications

Several aspects of a regular ranked Trial were modified when playing Lights Out, intended to create a more immersive gameplay experience.

Load-Out

Players were unable to equip any Unlockable before the Trial and entered the Trial without any PerksIconHelp perks.pngIconHelp perks.pngIconHelp perks.png, ItemsIconHelp items.pngIconHelp items.pngIconHelp items.png, OfferingsIconHelp offerings.pngIconHelp offerings.pngIconHelp offerings.png, or Add-onsIconHelp addons.pngIconHelp addons.pngIconHelp addons.png.

However, Survivors were allowed to equip and use any Item they found in a ChestIconHelp chests.pngIconHelp chests.pngIconHelp chests.png inside the Trial Grounds, which spawned in a higher number.

Chest Loot

The default number of ChestsIconHelp chests.pngIconHelp chests.pngIconHelp chests.png when playing Lights Out was increased from 3 to 8, almost tripling it.

Additionally, their shared loot table was modified to only spawn rarer Items:

Item Rarity Spawn Chance
Common 0 % (disabled)
Uncommon 0 % (disabled)
Rare 50 %
Very Rare 30 %
Ultra Rare 20 %

Keys

Whereas Chests were plenty in Lights Out and spawned Toolboxes, Maps, and Med-Kits, they would never spawn any KeysIconItems key.pngIconItems key.pngIconItems key.png.

If the Killer closed the HatchIconHelp hatch.pngIconHelp hatch.pngIconHelp hatch.png, it would be closed for good.

Lighting VFX

Lights Out came with a dark world filter that greatly reduced the visibility for all Players by lowering the brightness of the lighting on the Map (in a manner similar to the retired New Moon BouquetIconFavors newMoonBouquet.pngIconFavors newMoonBouquet.pngIconFavors newMoonBouquet.png Offering) and also filled the entire Map with thick billowing fog that only allowed for a few metres of visibility.

HUD

Lights Out hid the Status HUD and all related overlays.

Stealth

Trials were much stealthier during Lights Out, due to the mode suppressing both the Terror RadiusIconHelp terrorRadius.pngIconHelp terrorRadius.pngIconHelp terrorRadius.png of Killers and the creation of Scratch MarksIconHelp scratchMarks.pngIconHelp scratchMarks.pngIconHelp scratchMarks.png for running Survivors.

Generators

All Generators had a fixed minimum Progression of 5 % at the start of the Trial.

This caused all Generators to emit a minimum amount of noise, helping Survivors find them through their hearing rather than with their sight.

Available Maps

This first iteration Lights Out was only playable on a reduced Map Pool of 4, which were chosen at random:
