Custom Game

Custom Game, originally known as Kill Your Friends and abbreviated as "KYF", is one of 3 permanently available Game Modes in Dead by Daylight.

Overview

Custom Game creates a Lobby that allows for up to 6 Players to unranked Trials together, consisting of the following categories:

• 1 Killer
  • This role is obligatory and must be a Player.
• 1 Survivor
  • This role is obligatory, but can either be a Player or a Bot.
• up to 3 additional Survivors
  • Additional Survivors are optional and can be either a Player, a Bot, or a mix of the two.
• up to 2 Spectators
  • Spectators are optional and can view the Trial from the point of view of any participating Player, including the Killer's POV.

Content

Custom Games provides access to all of Dead by Daylight's content, as it is an unranked game mode, with the sole exception being Characters.

The Host Player has the option to disable any DLC-content for all Players.
They also have the option to select a specific Map instead of having the Game choose one randomly as would be the case in ranked Trials.

Characters

Custom Games can be played with any Character a participating Player owns, but does not grant access to unowned DLC-Characters.

Unlockables

Custom Games provides access to all Unlockables featured in Dead by Daylight to all Characters, regardless of their inventory in ranked Trials.

This includes access to the following:

• All Add-ons
• All Items (for Survivors)
• All Offerings
• All Perks at Tier III

Maps

Custom Games can be played on every available Map in Dead by Daylight, even if DLC-content is disabled by the Host Player, as Maps are not considered part of DLCs, they merely release(d) alongside them.

If no Map Offerings are used, the Map will be chosen randomly, just as in ranked Trials.
However, the Host Player has the option to choose a specific Map for the Trial.

Special Rules

Custom Games adjust the number of Generators that spawn in the Trial Grounds, as well as the number Survivors must repair to power the Exit Gates, based on the number of Survivors that load into the Trial:

This behaviour originally also applied to ordinary ranked Trials, when Survivors disconnected during the loading screen, before the Match Cancel feature was introduced.

Ranking, Bloodpoints, Experience

As Custom Games is an unranked mode, playing Trials in it has no effect on a Player's Grade and Matchmaking Score for ranked Trials.
It also does not affect the Player Level

Additionally, Custom Games also do not provide Players with Bloodpoints nor with Experience Points.

Any Scores shown in the Tally Screen are purely visual and provided as a reference for how well one would have performed in a ranked Trial.

Trivia

• Bloodpoints shown in the Tally Screen are only a score to show the Player's performance.
  • They are not added to the Player's account and thus cannot be spent in the Bloodweb.
• Unlike in ranked Games, the Killer can partake in the pre-game chat.
