Overview
The Jabberwock is a strange dragon-like monster from the poem Jabberwocky, which originally appeared in the novel Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Caroll.
In the poem; a "beamish boy" hunts The Jabberwock with a vorpal sword, only to take a rest beneath tree. While he waits there, the hunted beast comes out of the woods. He then cuts off its head, slaying the beast and then goes home to joyous cheers.
In the novel; after Alice falls through a mirror she wakes up in a reflected version of her own home. There she finds the poem Jabberwocky but is unable to read it, due to its mirrored writing. After reading it by using a mirror, she finds it too hard to understand and later asks Humpty Dumpty for a translation, of which only the first verse is explained.

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came"
