~ Mysterious Note |
Items are a type of Unlockable and the main part of the Survivor Load-Out in Dead by Daylight
.
Overview
Items are to Survivors what Powers are to Killers.
They are tools intended to help Survivors progress their objectives and hopefully escape from the Trial.
Obtaining
There are 2 ways for a Survivor Player to obtain an Item: the Bloodweb and Chests
.
Items can be purchased from the Bloodweb to stock their inventory, from which they can be equipped for the next Trial.
During a Trial, Items can be retrieved from locked Chests by unlocking them.
Charges
All Items have a set amount of Charges that are being depleted while using them.
By default, all Items deplete at a rate of -1 c/s, unless it is modified outside effects, specific Add-ons that are attached to it, or by a specific interaction.
Once an Item's Charges are used up, the Item is considered depleted and cannot be used anymore for the remainder of the Trial, unless it is recharged by outside effects (e.g. Built to Last or Scavenger
).
Dropping/Picking-up
Items, unlike Powers, can be dropped and picked back up at will, which also allows Survivor Players to exchange Items with one another or to pick-up an Item left beneath the Hook of a sacrificed Survivor that had carried one.
Both interactions take 1 second to perform.
Item Categories
Since Patch 7.0.0, Items are divided into 3 categories, which determine their behaviour with the Load-Out, interaction with Perks, and exiting the Trial:
- Survivor Items
- These are Regular Items which return to a Survivor's inventory should they successfully escape the Trial.
- Special Items
- These are Limited Items which are related to specific Killer Powers, such as the Lament Configuration
, Survivors may only temporarily interact with and carry them.
- These are Limited Items which are related to specific Killer Powers, such as the Lament Configuration
- Temporary Items
- These are Limited Items which can be used like Regular Items during the Trial, but do not return to a Survivor's inventory upon escaping the Trial.
They remain within the Trial Grounds, consumed by The Entity.
- These are Limited Items which can be used like Regular Items during the Trial, but do not return to a Survivor's inventory upon escaping the Trial.
Add-ons
Add-ons allow Survivors to change various properties of an Item.
Up to 2 Add-ons can be equipped with an Item before starting a Trial.
Add-ons cannot be equipped during a Trial, but it is possible to retrieve Items with pre-attached Add-ons from Chests when using the Perk Ace in the Hole.
Chest Loot
Chests can contain an Item of any Rarity from Common to Ultra Rare, as well as of the Event Rarity during an Event.
However, an Item's Rarity directly affects its chances to spawn in a Chests.
One can increase those chances by using the Perk Plunderer's Instinct.
Keeping Items
If a Survivor manages to escape with an Item, it will be kept in their inventory and replenished of charges.
Any equipped Add-ons, however, will always be consumed after the Trial, unless one is using the Perk Ace in the Hole.
Losing Items
If a Survivor dies during a Trial without the White Ward Offering, their Item and any attached Add-ons will be lost in the Trial.
Item Types
This section lists all currently available Items in Dead by Daylight, categorised by their specific type:
Regular Items
Regular Items can be brought into the Trial by Survivors or be obtained as Chest Loot mid-Trial.

Limited Items
Limited Items are special Items which are often, but not always, associated with a specific Killer's Power.
Limited Items are called that, because they are limited to Trials only and are unobtainable outside of them.
Successfully escaping with a Limited Items usually triggers a special Score Event for some extra Bloodpoints, but the Player does not get to keep the Item.
It will automatically be consumed by The Entity.
Most Limited Items will have their Auras revealed to all Survivors on the Map when they are on the ground.
The Flash Grenade is a special Limited Items, as it can be crafted mid-Trial by the Survivor equipped with the appropriate Perk.
The first Limited Item was introduced in Patch 5.0.0 alongside the release of CHAPTER 20: Resident Evil™.
