Prestige Jeff Johansen to Prestige 1, 2, 3 respectively to unlock Tier I, Tier II, Tier III of Distortion for all other Characters.
History
Start the Trial with
1 Token.
Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and consumes -1 Token, applying the following effects for 8/10/12 seconds:
- Blocks your Aura from being read.
- Suppresses the creation of your Scratch Marks.
For every
15 seconds spent in a Chase,
Distortion recharges
+1 Token, up to a maximum of
2 Tokens.
Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State.
Start the Trial with
1 Token.
Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and consumes -1 Token, applying the following effects for 8/10/12 seconds:
- Blocks your Aura from being read.
- Suppresses the creation of your Scratch Marks.

30 seconds spent in a Chase,
Distortion recharges
+1 Token, up to a maximum of
2 Tokens.
Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State.

+1 Token, up to the starting count.
Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State.

4 Tokens.
Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and consumes -1 Token, applying the following effects for 6/8/10 seconds:
- Blocks your Aura from being read.
- Suppresses the creation of your Scratch Marks.
Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State or caught in a
Killer Trap.
Start the Trial with
3 Tokens.
Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and consumes -1 Token, applying the following effects for 6/8/10 seconds:
- Blocks your Aura from being read.
- Suppresses the creation of your Scratch Marks.
Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State or caught in a
Killer Trap.
Change Log
- Change: updated the in-game description to reflect that it does not trigger when the Survivor is in the Dying State or caught in Killer Traps.
- Buff: increased the starting Tokens from 3 to 4.
- This change was motivated by the addition of numerous Aura-reading Unlockables since the original addition of this Perk, making it more likely that Tokens are used up quickly.
- Quality of Life: no longer loses Tokens when standing in the Area of Effect of another Unlockable that shields the Perk User's Aura from the Killer (i.e. Boon: Shadow Step
).
- Rework: now has the ability to recharge Tokens.
- Buff: added a new effect that recharges a Token for every 30 seconds spent in the Killer's Terror Radius.
- Quality of Life: now also works when caught in Killer Traps.
- Quality of Life: added an audio cue for when a Token is used.
- Reversal: reduced the starting Tokens from 4 to 3.
- This change compensates for the new ability to recharge Tokens.
- Buff: increased the Aura-shield duration from 6/8/10 seconds to 8/10/12 seconds.
- Nerf: reduced the starting Tokens from 3 to 1.
- Nerf: reduced the maximum Tokens from 3 to 2.
- Nerf: now only recharges when in a Chase, instead of when inside the Killer's Terror Radius.
- Buff: reduced the time required to recharge a Token from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.

This audio cue was played when a Token was consumed, when the Perk was still Token-based:
Trivia
- Should the Aura-reveal duration exceed the maximum duration Distortion can shield you for, another Token will be consumed, if available, to shield you again.
- If there are no more Tokens left, your Aura will be revealed again for the remainder of the Aura-reveal duration.
- Before Patch 8.3.0, Distortion was unique amongst Perks that gain Tokens when in the Killer's Terror Radius in that it would continue to gain them mid-chase.
- The initial quote in the flavour text is a reference to "Freyja", the Goddess of love, sex, beauty, fertility, gold, seiðr (magic of fortune-telling), war, and death in Norse mythology.
Video
- Note that in the Video below the Killer has Hex: Undying, allowing them to see Survivor Auras when they are close to a Dull Totem.
Therefore this Aura-reading effect is cancelled by Distortion (when it has at least 1 or more Tokens).
