Dead by Daylight Wiki:FAQ

This article aims to clear up frequently asked questions about the Dead by Daylight Wiki.
Q: Is the Dead by Daylight Wiki run by the Developers of Dead by Daylight?
- A: No, we are volunteers from the Dead by Daylight community, we are not employed by BHVR and therefore cannot pass on any feedback or suggestions you might have about the game.
Q: Can I edit articles on the wiki?
- A: Yes. We heavily encourage anyone who has a suggestion or notices an error to correct it/implement their suggestion on their own. Only a few articles are protected so that only administrators can edit them. If you wish to change those, feel free to forward your suggestion to an administrator.
Q: I tried editing page XY with a Module call, how do I change the Module?
- A: Since most major articles receive their information via central Data Modules, the module providing the data itself must be edited, rather than the article, to change something. Game information is stored in the datatable modules. Finding the right one is normally intuitive since the datatables are categorised by topic. Edit the text highlighted in green to change the information targeted. For more information, refer to this help article.
Q: I tried editing page XY with a Template, how do I change the Template?
- A: The Template itself must be edited, rather than the article, to change something. Looking at the page in source editor mode will reveal the Templates used on the page. Finding the right one is a question of matching names. Semi-protected Templates can only be edited by auto-confirmed users, Protected ones only by admins.
Q: Is the information on the wiki verified by BHVR?
- A: While we do work together with BHVR to ensure the quality of our information and the vast majority of the information featured hereon is valid and up-to-date, it cannot be assumed that all of it was verified by BHVR or by our Wiki Guardians. This wiki is freely editable by anyone, so articles run a risk of being improperly changed and vandalised.
Q: Does the wiki feature leaks and datamines of upcoming content?
- A: No. Datamines are only used to gather information on the inner workings of existing content on the live build. Upcoming content should only be added to the wiki once it is announced on official channels or introduced on the Public Test Build. Editing in leaked information is strictly prohibited as per our rules.
Q: I tried editing page XY but it said it is protected. Why is that?
- A: There are two types of protection, semi-protection and full protection. The former only allows for logged-in users to edit the affected pages, the latter only allows for administrators to edit them. If the article in question is semi-protected, log in and you will be able to edit it. In case it is fully protected, contact an administrator to instate your change. Reasons for this protection include frequent vandalism, high traffic, and core importance in keeping the wiki afloat. We kindly ask you to be understanding of this.
Q: I have a question about the wiki. Who can I talk to?
- A: You can join our Discord server and use the
#discussionsand#suggestionschannels for it. Alternatively, you can contact a Wiki Guardian directly on the wiki itself or on Discord.
Q: I cannot edit the articles about the new content currently on the PTB. Why?
- A: Articles about upcoming content currently on the Public Test Build are always locked so only administrators can edit them until they make it to the live game. This is because crowds of people flocking to add information to the pages usually results in qualitative issues with it, and due to the fact that the influx of PTB information has to be carried out in a certain manner. We apologise, but you will have to wait until that content is officially released.
Q: Do I need an account to be able to edit the wiki?
- A: On the main wiki, yes. This was instated in order to prevent mass disruption and minimise the number of malicious edits. However, anyone can easily create an account and edit most articles freely.
Q: I want to translate the wiki into my native language which is not covered yet. How do I proceed?
- A: Please refer to this page for more information.
Q: How do I get the contributor roles on the Discord server?
- A: Please refer to this page for the procedures for getting the contributors roles.
Q: My edit was reverted by a Wiki Guardian. Why?
- A: We will normally add an edit comment to any rollbacks or reversions. Common reasons include lack of proof or verifiability, wrong formatting, and redundancy. If no concise reason is specified, make sure to ask that respective Wiki Guardian directly. Please do not revert the edit back until the conflict is settled, as doing that may result in a ban or time-out.
