Change Log
- QoL: adjusted the speed curve of Dead Hard to have it match the animation.
- This was step 1 of 2 steps to make the use of Dead Hard more visible to a Killer.
- QoL: added a new animation to indicate that the Perk is active.
- This was step 2 of 2 steps to make the use of Dead Hard more visible to a Killer.
- QoL: removed the speed bonus while in the air. This change aims to fix a variety of game hostage issues in multiple Maps.
- QoL: added hit validation.
- Rework: reworked Dead Hard to remove the problematic aspect of gaining distance upon activation, which could not be countered by the Killer and removed skill as a factor from the Perk's use.
Now, Dead Hard's sole intended use is to dodge hits by timing its activation correctly.
- Change: Dead Hard now triggers the Endurance Status Effect when activated.
- Nerf: removed the forward dash.
- QoL: adjusted the activation animation to fit the Endurance bonus duration.
- Nerf: now requires that the Perk user is unhooked or unhooked themselves for it to activate and it deactivates after use, effectively limiting it to 2 uses per Trial.
Speed Curve Statistics
- As of Patch 6.1.0, Dead Hard no longer features a Dash.
Dead Hard had an interaction time of 0.5 seconds and the speed curve for its Dash had the following values:
Elapsed Animation Time (in %) |
Elapsed Animation Time (in seconds) |
Movement Speed multiplier (in %) |

-0.09 % |
-0.000457 seconds |

Note: the Dead Hard Speed curve started at a negative time value.
A possible interpretation of this is that having the Speed Curve apply its mathematics (technically) before the animation itself begins (from -0.000457 to 0 seconds) results in Survivors benefiting from an immediate (albeit slight) boost to their Movement speed the very moment they started the Dead Hard animation (when time reaches 0).
Trivia
- Dead Hard was originally called "Line Break", according to an interview with Mathieu Côté (Producer).
- Cages of Atonement

can render Dead Hard completely useless, as being freed from a Cage does not count as as being unhooked.
History Trivia
- Up to Patch 6.1.0, Dead Hard was used to dash across armed Bear Traps

or through the Killer, as it temporarily removed a Survivor's collision box.
