Downloadable Content, also known as "DLCs", add additional content to Dead by Daylight
.
As of date, there are 37 available DLCs, with some being free and some being paid.
There are also several exclusive DLCs that cannot be obtained from any Store.
Overview
DLCs add new Characters to Dead by Daylight and are often, but not always, accompanied by the Developers adding a new Map, themed after the DLC content, to the Base Game.
These DLCs include:
- 35 Chapters, released every 3 months, add a new Killer AND a new Survivor.
- To date, the following Chapters have been an exception to that rule:
- CHAPTER 12: Ghost Face®, CHAPTER 21: Hellraiser™, and CHAPTER 30: Chucky added just a new Killer.
- CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things, CHAPTER 20: Resident Evil, CHAPTER 25: Resident Evil™: PROJECT W, and CHAPTER 27: Tools of Torment added a Killer and two Survivors instead of one.
- To date, the following Chapters have been an exception to that rule:
- 8 Half-Chapters, sometimes released in-between two Chapters, add EITHER a new Killer OR a new Survivor.
- 6 Clothing Packs, which added additional Customisation Options (obsolete since the introduction of the In-Game Store).
- 1 Original Soundtrack featuring music from the game.
- 2 Character Expansion Packs, released sparingly, which unlock a selection of existing Characters.
There are also several non-available DLCs that were exclusive to certain Streamers, Events or give-aways.
Purchasing a DLC
With the implementation of the in-game Store, in Patch 2.0.0, Players can decide whether to buy a DLC with money on the platforms' respective Stores or with Iridescent Shards
(only original Characters) or Auric Cells
directly from the in-game Store.
Purchasing a DLC with money will unlock an additional cosmetic Customisation Option for the Characters contained in the DLC.
Earning enough Iridescent Shards to unlock an unlicensed DLC takes approximately 35 hours of active playtime on average.[1]
Licensed DLCs
Licensed Chapter DLCs are generally locked out from purchase with Iridescent Shards.

It featured 20 new Cosmetic Pieces for all Survivors up to an including CHAPTER 1: The Last Breath Chapter and was the first paid Content DLC for Dead by Daylight.
It came pre-installed on console versions and was ultimately retired from the various third party Stores.
It is still available as a Bundle in the In-Game Store

The Bloodstained Sack
The Bloodstained Sack DLC was originally released for $2.99 on 17 November 2016.
It featured 8 new Cosmetic Pieces for all Killers up to an including CHAPTER 1: The Last Breath Chapter.
It came pre-installed on console versions and was ultimately retired from the various third party Stores.
It is still available as a Bundle in the In-Game Store.
Headcase
The Headcase DLC was originally released for $2.99 on 8 June 2017.
It featured 12 new Cosmetic Pieces for all original Survivors up to an including CHAPTER 3: Of Flesh and Mud.
It came pre-installed on the Switch version and was ultimately retired from the various third party Stores.
It is still available as a Bundle in the In-Game Store.
Charity Case

The Charity Case DLC was released for $4.99 on 10 August 2017.
It featured 26 new Cosmetic Pieces for all Survivors up to an including CHAPTER 1: The Last Breath Chapter and the Killers The Wraith, The Nurse, and The Huntress.
As its name suggests, all of its proceeds are donated to charity.
It was ultimately retired from the various third party Stores, but is still available as a Bundle in the In-Game Store.
CHARACTER PACKS
Escape Expansion Pack
The Escape Expansion Pack was originally released for $29.99 on 15 June 2021.
It features all original Survivors up to and including CHAPTER 21.5: Hour of the Witch, as well as an exclusive Charm of the Survivor Icon.
Terror Expansion Pack
The Terror Expansion Pack was originally released for $29.99 on 15 June 2021.
It features all original Killers up to and including CHAPTER 19: All-Kill, as well as an exclusive Charm of the Killer Icon.
ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
Dead by Daylight: Original Soundtrack
The Dead by Daylight: Original Soundtrack DLC was originally released for $9.99 on 14 June 2016.
The following DLCs could only be obtained through special codes and only on the Steam (PC) version of the Game.
As of Patch 3.4.0 most of these cosmetics were given to everyone, on every platform, for free.
Dweard + Sharp Mustache Jake
This was the first DLC that added new Survivor customisation options for Dead by Daylight.
This DLC could only be obtained at PAX West 2016 and NYCC 2016.
This DLC includes a new Head attire for Jake Park and Dwight Fairfield.

This DLC could only be obtained when purchasing an Item from the official Dead by Daylight Merchandise Store from 15 June to 3 July 2017.
This DLC includes a new Torso attire for Dwight Fairfield.

YouTubers/Streamers Exclusives
There are several DLCs that are exclusive to certain Streamers and YouTubers which give them a unique Item of clothing as a token from the Developers. They are of a unique Rarity called Artefact; its fuchsia colour is very similar to Ultra Rare's pink.
Those Cosmetics could only be obtained via special codes that said Streamers/YouTubers could give away. Some added their exclusive Cosmetic piece to the Charity Case, making it available to everyone who bought the DLC.

Trivia
- The Last Breath Chapter DLC, when originally launched, required the Player to manually install the DLC, this was changed so it is now pre-installed.
- When the Headcase DLC launched, it was wrongfully launched with five sets of exclusive DLC clothing. Those had been patched out shortly afterwards.
- All profits made from selling the Charity Case go to the Brain & Behaviour Research Foundation.
- In order to allow for full Cross Progression between all platforms for Dead by Daylight starting from 22 July 2024, the Developers had to adjust the pricing of all licensed DLCs and some newer original DLCs for the PC platform in order to create price parity between all third party Stores across all platforms.
- This resulted in the price for PC players being increased from $6.99 to $7.99 for a regular CHAPTER DLC.
