Bone Chill 2023

Bone Chill is a recurring Winter Event in Dead by Daylight, celebrating Christmas.

Bone Chill 2023 was the third iteration of the Event and started on 14 December 2023 @ 18:00 UTC.
It ended on 4 January 2024.

Overview

Bone Chill is a type of Winter-themed in-game Event, which temporarily adds interactable Snowmen to the Gameplay of Killers and Survivors.

The Event began during the Season of Giving 2023.

In-Game Changes

Added the Frosty Trinkets Event Currency.
Added Snow Piles and Snow Skulls as Interactables.
Re-enabled the Winter Party Starter Firecracker
Re-enabled Event Lobby.
Re-enabled Event Loading Screen.
Re-enabled Christmas-themed Hook Model.
Re-enabled Christmas-themed Generator Model.
Re-enabled Christmas-themed Locker Model.
Re-enabled Christmas-themed Fire Barrel Model.
Re-enabled the Snowmen.

The Event Item could be found in newly generated Bloodwebs and also in Chests located throughout the Trial Grounds.

The Snowmen could be entered by both Survivors or the Killer.

Event Currency

Bone Chill 2023 introduced a new Currency exclusive to this Event, called Frosty Trinkets.

Frosty Trinkets could be earned by completing Challenges and Tome Levels in the Event Tome 8 - Bone Chill 2023.
They could be used to purchase Event Cosmetics.

Event Item

	Winter Party Starter	THIS ITEM CAN NO LONGER BE OBTAINED FROM THE BLOODWEB (This Unlockable can no longer be obtained, but stockpiles may still be used in Trials.) A small, highly-explosive dinner table decoration. Can be used as a distraction, as a blinding device or to celebrate. Press the Use Item button to detonate the Firecracker. Detonates into loud bangs and intense light flashes, temporarily blinding and deafening nearby Players. The Winter Party Starter is consumed on use. The Winter Party Starter is only available during Winter Events.

Event Mechanics

Snowmen

Main article: Snowmen

Hide in a Snowman and trick your adversary.
Hiding in a Snowman reduces a Player's Movement speed and visibility, but for Killers additionally grants the Undetectable Status Effect.

Be wary of Snowman Decoys, as they can be very loud.

Snow Piles and Snow Skulls

All Trials spawned with 8 Snow Piles.

Both Survivors and the Killer could interact with them to collect and hold up to 6 Snow Skulls.
Once a Player had used up all Snow Skulls, they could return to Snow Piles and collect more.

Press the Event Ability button to throw a Snow Skull at a friend or foe and celebrate the cooler-than-cool Bone Chill.

Snow Skulls could also be used to destroy Snowmen.

Old Cosmetics

The Ugly Sweaters and Deck the Trials Collections returned to the In-Game Store.

New Cosmetics

The Event introduced new Ugly Sweaters and new winter-themed Outfits from the Holiday Horror Collection for the following Characters:

Frosty Trinkets

Frosty Trinkets could be earned during gameplay and then be used to purchase Cosmetics and Charms in the Event's Collection screen.

Collection Milestone Rewards

Milestone Rewards were a set of rewards that were unlocked simply by unlocking Event Collection rewards.
Earning all Event Cosmetics unlocked all Milestones.

Daily Log-in Rewards

Log-in Rewards Calendar

The Event's Daily Log-in Rewards were a mix of in-game Currencies, adding to a total 1,000,000 Bloodpoints, 3,000 Iridescent Shards, and 30 Rift Fragments.

As a first, that year's Calendar featured both a claimable Player Profile Badge and a Player Profile Banner, two then recently introduced Customisation options (Patch 7.4.0).

Event Tome

The Bone Chill 2023 Event was accompanied by a special event-themed Tome, Event Tome 8 - Bone Chill 2023.
Completing its Challenges would reward Players with Frosty Trinkets that could be used to unlock special event-themed Cosmetics.

It featured two Badges, two Banners, four Charms, and two Outfits.
