Twisted Masquerade 2023
Twisted Masquerade is a recurring Anniversary Event in Dead by Daylight
, celebrating the Game's Anniversary in June.
Twisted Masquerade 2023 was the second iteration of the Event and took place between 22 June and 13 July 2023
Its pre-event, Before the Masquerade, took place between 23 May and 21 June 2023.

Masks
As the name of the Event implies, the Twisted Masquerade added several unique Mask cosmetics for several original Characters that could be unlocked during Trials when collecting an Invitation Scroll, reusing the Crown Pillar mechanic of previous Anniversaries.
In order to unlock the Rewards, Players must have had at least 1 Token left towards their Twisted Skills when either the Exit Gates or the Hatch were open.

Gameplay Mechanics
During the Twisted Masquerade, all Trials spawned the Crown Pillar with an Invitation Scroll.
Collecting the Invitation Scrolls provided Players with Tokens towards new special abilities: the Twisted Skills (these were slightly different to their 2024 counterpart):
Twisted Skills
Collecting an Invitation Scroll gave the Player +1 Token towards their Twisted Skills, special abilities that could be used at the Player's discretion while being in an active Chase.
The number of available Tokens was indicated by comet-like fireballs circling the Character's torso, as well as two golden slashes in the top left corner of the screen from the Killer's POV.
Players could store a maximum of 2 Tokens.
Players also passively gained +1 Token for every 20 seconds spent in a Chase.
This applied to both the chasing Killer and the chased Survivor.
Twisted Skills were disabled during the Endgame Collapse
.
Survivor Twisted Skills
- Spawn a Vault Blocker on the next Vault location you vault over that blocks the Killer from vaulting after you.
- Spawn a Fragile Pallet (a.k.a. "Party Pallet") that will still stun the Killer, but break immediately upon use.
Killer Twisted Skills
- Remote-destroy nearby dropped Pallets or Breakable Walls.
- Gain a temporary Endurance
Status Effect which reduces all Stun durations by -75 %. - Inflict the chased Survivor temporarily with the Exposed
Status Effect when you have acquired Bloodlust

Crown Pillar / Invitation Scroll:
- Interaction duration: 1 second
Twisted Skills:
- Twisted Skills Tokens gained per interaction: +1 Token
- Twisted Skills Token Capacity: 2 Tokens
- Passive Token Charge rate: +0.05 c/s
- This means that 1 Token is gained for 20 seconds in a Chase.
- Ability Cool-down: 15 seconds
Fragile Pallet:
- Maximum Spawn distance: 12 metres
- Spawn time: 1.25 seconds
- Maximum Remote-Destroy distance: 8 metres
- Remote-Destroy duration: 1.5 seconds
- Maximum Negate-Stun Effect distance: 8 metres
- Maximum Negate-Stun Effect duration: 8 seconds
- This refers to for how long the Killer benefits from the Endurance Status Effect.
- Stun-Time reduction: -75 %
Vault Blocker:
- Maximum Spawn distance: 8 metres
- Block duration: 4 seconds
Bloodlust Exposed:
- Maximum Activation distance for Bloodlust Down: 8 metres
- Exposed Status Effect duration: 10 seconds
Marionette:
- Respawn frequency: 30 seconds

Event Tome
The Twisted Masquerade features a special Event Tome:
Like regular Tomes
, the Event Tome was made up of a mix of Survivor and Killer Challenges.
Additionally, some of the Tome's nodes in the Auris Web unlocked a Cosmetic Piece as a Reward for participating in the Event Tome.
The Event Tome featured 2 Tome Levels, each with two separate paths through the Auris Web:
Community Path
This marked the upper path of the Auris Web.
It featured challenges that will add their progression to a community-wide goal.
Personal Path
This marked the lower path of the Auris Web.
It functioned like a regular path through the Auris Web like in any other Tome.
Outfits & Charms
The Twisted Masquerade featured two earnable Outfits, one for Nea Karlsson
and one for The Hillbilly
