Prestige Renato Lyra to Prestige 1, 2, 3 respectively to unlock Tier I, Tier II, Tier III of Background Player for all other Characters.

You are not usually the centre of attention and in some cases, this can be a good thing.

Whenever another Survivor is picked up, Background Player activates for 10 seconds.
Starting to run while it is active causes the following effect:

  • Grants a +50 % HasteIconStatusEffects haste.pngIconStatusEffects haste.pngIconStatusEffects haste.png Status Effect for 5 seconds.
Background Player causes the ExhaustedIconStatusEffects exhausted.pngIconStatusEffects exhausted.pngIconStatusEffects exhausted.png Status Effect for 30/25/20 seconds.
Background Player cannot be used when Exhausted.

Change Log

Patch 7.3.0

  • Buff: doubled the strength of the Haste Status Effect from +50 % to +100 %.
  • Buff: increased the duration of the Haste Status Effect from 4 seconds to 5 seconds.
  • QoL: prevents other Sprint Perks from triggering while it is active.

Patch 8.0.0

  • Buff: halved the duration of the Exhausted Status Effect from 60/50/40 seconds to 30/25/20 seconds.
  • Reversal: reduced the strength Haste Status Effect back from +100 % to +50 %.


Trivia

  • On the 6.6.0 PTB, Background Player activated upon unhooking another Survivor, and had a sprint duration of 6 seconds.
    • The Perk was reworked for the Live release, as the Developers decided that it left the unhooked Survivor too vulnerable.
  • Background Player will be prioritised over and trump Sprint BurstIconPerks sprintBurst.pngIconPerks sprintBurst.pngIconPerks sprintBurst.png, given that the activation conditions are met.
